What if someone ghosts?
If a buyer accepts an offer then disappears: £12.50 is returned to the buyer, £12.50 goes to the dealer as goodwill compensation. If a dealer fails to confirm within 48 hours of the buyer confirming, they are invoiced automatically based on the buyer-stated price.

Is it really free to post a request? ↓
Yes. Posting a request costs nothing. You don't need a card to register or to post. The only time a card is needed is when you accept a dealer's offer — at that point a £25 fully refundable hold is authorised. That hold is returned to your card within 24 hours of you confirming your purchase. Net cost to you: zero.
What is the £25 hold and why do I need it? ↓
When you accept a dealer's offer, a £25 authorisation is placed on your card. This is not a charge — it is a hold, like a hotel pre-authorisation. It signals to the dealer that you are a serious buyer who intends to follow through. Without it, dealers have no protection against time-wasters. The hold is returned in full as soon as you confirm your purchase in the app.
What happens if I accept an offer but change my mind? ↓
If you accept an offer and then decide not to proceed, you should let us know as soon as possible. If you notify us before contacting the dealer, your £25 hold is released. If you ghost the dealer without explanation, £12.50 is returned to you and £12.50 is paid to the dealer as goodwill compensation for their wasted time. AutoRequest will not penalise genuine change-of-mind situations — only deliberate non-communication.
How long does it take to get offers? ↓
During our pre-launch phase, verified dealers are being onboarded now. Once we go live, you should expect offers within a few hours for popular car types in well-covered areas. We will always notify you by email and push notification the moment an offer arrives.
Are the dealers verified? ↓
Yes. Every dealer on AutoRequest has been verified through Companies House and a manual review of their trade credentials before they can access buyer requests or make offers. We do not allow private sellers or unverified traders on the platform.
What if the car doesn't match what was offered? ↓
Dealers are contractually bound to provide accurate vehicle information. If a car is materially misrepresented, contact us immediately at hello@autorequest.co.uk. We take this seriously — any dealer found to misrepresent vehicles is removed from the platform. Your £25 hold will be returned in full in any dispute where the dealer is at fault.
How do I confirm my purchase to get my £25 back? ↓
Once you've bought the car and collected it, open the AutoRequest app or website, go to "Confirm a sale" in your dashboard, and tap confirm. That's it. Your £25 is returned to your original payment card within 24 hours. You have 30 days from accepting an offer to confirm — after 30 days with no activity, the hold expires automatically and your money is released.
For dealers
How does the 1% commission work exactly? ↓
When a buyer confirms a purchase in the app, and you confirm it from your dashboard within 48 hours, AutoRequest invoices you 1% of the confirmed sale price. On a £10,000 sale that's £100. On a £25,000 sale that's £250. The invoice is emailed to you and payment is collected via the card you registered. There are no other charges — no listing fees, no monthly subscriptions, no connection fees.
What if a buyer doesn't confirm the sale? ↓
If a buyer confirms and you confirm within 48 hours, the commission is triggered. If a buyer does NOT confirm but you know a sale completed, you can raise a confirmation request from your dealer dashboard. We will contact the buyer to verify. If a sale genuinely completed and neither party confirms within 30 days, the sale will not be invoiced — but this is an edge case our verification process is designed to minimise.
What happens if I don't confirm within 48 hours? ↓
If a buyer confirms a purchase and you do not confirm from your dashboard within 48 hours, AutoRequest will automatically invoice you based on the sale price the buyer stated. This protects buyers and ensures fair commission collection. If there is a genuine dispute about the sale price, contact us within 48 hours and we will pause the auto-invoice while we investigate.
How is AutoRequest different from Autotrader? ↓
Autotrader charges dealers a fixed monthly fee to list cars — whether those cars sell or not. AutoRequest charges nothing unless a sale completes. You don't pay to list, to browse buyer requests, or to make offers. You pay only 1% when you bank a confirmed sale. The model aligns our incentives entirely with yours: we only succeed when you sell.
What is a founding dealer and why does it matter? ↓
The first 100 dealers to register become founding members. They receive priority access to buyer requests in their region before we open to all dealers, a founding member badge on their profile, and a locked 1% commission rate. As we grow, we may introduce tiered pricing — founding members have their 1% rate locked for 3 years from their first confirmed sale.
How do I get verified as a dealer? ↓
Register using our dealer application form. We require your Companies House number, trade insurance details, and optionally FCA or DVSA registration. Our team manually reviews each application within 24–48 hours. You'll receive an email once approved. During pre-launch, verified dealers are being admitted to a preview dashboard before buyers come on board.

1. Who we are

AutoRequest Ltd ("AutoRequest", "we", "us") operates autorequest.co.uk, an online reverse car marketplace where buyers post vehicle requests and verified dealers make offers. We are registered in England and Wales. Our contact email is privacy@autorequest.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

For buyers: name, email address, mobile number (collected at registration), and the details of requests you post (budget, vehicle preferences, location). Payment card details for the £25 refundable hold are processed directly by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.

For dealers: company name, Companies House number, contact name, email, phone number, dealership address, trade insurance details, and FCA/DVSA registration if provided.

Usage data: We collect standard server logs and analytics including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and session duration. We use this to improve the platform.

3. How we use your data

We use your data to: operate and improve the platform; match buyer requests with relevant dealer offers; facilitate introductions between buyers and dealers; process payments via Stripe; send you notifications about offers, acceptances, and confirmations; comply with our legal obligations; and protect against fraud and abuse.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising on other platforms.

4. Data sharing

When a buyer accepts a dealer's offer, we share the buyer's name, email, and phone number with that dealer only. Buyer contact details are never shared before an offer is accepted. Dealer contact details are shared with buyers upon offer acceptance.

We share data with: Stripe (payment processing); our email service provider for transactional emails; our hosting provider (Netlify); and analytics tools. All processors are under data processing agreements and handle data only as instructed.

5. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active plus 3 years for legal and tax compliance. Inactive accounts are deleted after 2 years of no activity. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by HMRC. You may request deletion at any time — see Section 7.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your login state. We use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable analytics cookies in your browser settings without affecting core platform functionality.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to: access your personal data; correct inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; restrict processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@autorequest.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS) for all data in transit. Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified provider. We do not store payment card numbers. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised team members only.

9. Changes to this policy

We will notify registered users by email of any material changes to this privacy policy at least 14 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at autorequest.co.uk/privacy.

1. About AutoRequest

AutoRequest Ltd ("AutoRequest") operates a reverse car marketplace at autorequest.co.uk. We provide a technology platform that connects vehicle buyers with verified dealers. We are not a vehicle dealer ourselves and do not buy, sell, or own any vehicles listed on the platform. All transactions are directly between buyers and dealers.

2. Buyer terms

Posting requests: Buyers may post vehicle requests for free. By posting, you confirm you are a genuine prospective buyer with the stated budget available. Posting false or misleading requests may result in account suspension.

The £25 refundable hold: When a buyer accepts a dealer's offer, a £25 authorisation is placed on their payment card. This is a hold, not a charge. It is returned in full within 24 hours of the buyer confirming a purchase. If a buyer accepts an offer and fails to follow through without contacting AutoRequest, £12.50 of the hold may be forfeited as goodwill compensation to the dealer.

Confirmation: Buyers must confirm their purchase within 30 days of accepting an offer. After 30 days with no activity, the authorisation expires automatically.

3. Dealer terms

Registration: Dealers must be registered UK businesses with a valid Companies House number. Dealers must maintain accurate trade insurance throughout their membership. AutoRequest reserves the right to suspend any dealer whose trade credentials lapse or cannot be verified.

Offers: Dealers must only make offers on vehicles they own or have firm access to and can sell at the stated price. Offers must be accurate in all material respects including mileage, condition, and specification.

Commission: When a sale is confirmed by both buyer and dealer, AutoRequest invoices the dealer 1% of the confirmed sale price. This invoice is due within 14 days. Persistent non-payment will result in account suspension and may be referred to debt recovery.

Confirmation obligation: Dealers must confirm completed sales in the AutoRequest dashboard within 48 hours of buyer confirmation. Failure to confirm within 48 hours results in automatic invoicing based on the buyer-stated price. If the price is disputed, dealers must contact AutoRequest within 48 hours of buyer confirmation.

Non-circumvention: Dealers agree not to attempt to complete sales with buyers introduced through AutoRequest outside the platform in order to avoid commission. This includes directing buyers to third-party sites, agreeing deals before the introduction, or re-contacting buyers from expired requests. Breach of this clause results in immediate account termination and may result in legal action to recover unpaid commission.

4. Prohibited conduct

The following are strictly prohibited: creating false or misleading listings or requests; impersonating another person or business; using the platform for any purpose other than genuine vehicle transactions; scraping or data-mining the platform; attempting to reverse-engineer the platform or access systems without authorisation.

5. Our liability

AutoRequest is a technology intermediary. We do not guarantee the accuracy of dealer listings, the quality of vehicles offered, or the outcome of any transaction. We are not party to any sale between a buyer and a dealer. Disputes about vehicle condition, price, or delivery are between buyer and dealer directly, though we will assist in mediation where possible.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AutoRequest's total liability to any user for any claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the greater of £100 or the amount of commission paid in the preceding 3 months.

6. Termination

AutoRequest may terminate or suspend any account that breaches these terms, without prior notice. Users may close their account at any time by emailing hello@autorequest.co.uk. Outstanding commission obligations survive account termination.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by English law. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
